Black Myth: Wukong New Game Plus: What Carries Over and Why Replay

New Game Plus in Black Myth: Wukong changes your starting tools more than your destination. Returning with developed equipment and abilities can make the opening chapters a place to experiment rather than rebuild from nothing. It is still a replay of the campaign, however, and should not be sold as an entirely new set of areas or encounters.
This is a source-based replay guide. It contains light progression spoilers and does not claim a completed playthrough by this publication.
Finish your current goals before starting over
After the ending, Continue Journey lets you return to the existing playthrough, while Enter a New Cycle starts New Game Plus. Use Continue Journey if you still want to collect available materials or finish an accessible encounter before resetting the campaign. It does not restore objectives already missed through story progression. This distinction is documented in the PSNProfiles trophy guide.
What carries into a new cycle?
RPG Site’s New Game Plus guide documents the Enter a New Cycle option after the final boss and ending. It lists the following carryover:
- Character level and invested talents.
- Obtained weapons and armor.
- Learned spells and their progression.
- Obtained transformations and associated Spark investment.
- Spirit skills and their upgrades.
- Vessels and acquired relic benefits.
That list concerns character development. Do not interpret it as a promise that the campaign, every quest state or every destination remains unlocked. The point of the mode is to restart the journey with a developed character.

Make the second journey purposeful
A useful replay plan begins with a short list: a missed encounter, equipment you want to develop, or a combat approach you did not explore. RPG Site also documents additional craftable weapons and armor upgrading at shrines in New Game Plus. Availability of a recipe does not remove its material or prerequisite requirements.
Keep exploration goals separate from claims about an alternate campaign. Revisiting familiar spaces may give you more attention for dialogue and descriptions, but the game does not automatically turn every missed thread into a completed story.
Spell Binder is not a spell-burst rotation
Spell Binder trades access to other spells for stronger direct combat. After activation, plan around staff attacks rather than a rotation that repeatedly casts Immobilize or A Pluck of Many. Read its restrictions before choosing the approach; carrying more spells into New Game Plus does not make them compatible with Spell Binder.
For experimentation, change one major element at a time. Compare an ordinary spell-oriented setup with a direct-combat approach, read the active restrictions, and evaluate whether the choice fits the encounter. A larger collection of abilities does not mean every ability can be used together.
Choose a reason to replay
New Game Plus can be appealing if you want to revisit bosses with a broader toolkit or pursue missed objectives. It is less attractive if seeing new locations is your main motivation. Familiarity can reduce uncertainty, but it does not guarantee that every fight will feel easier or that enemies gain new aggression patterns.
The practical question is simple: is there something specific you want to do differently? If the answer is yes, carrying your development forward gives that goal a strong foundation. If not, finishing once is a reasonable stopping point.
