Black Myth: Wukong Tips: Respecs, Vessels and the Somersault Cloud

Black Myth: Wukong rewards changing your approach to a difficult fight. A useful starting point is to understand which upgrades can be reassigned, which optional tools belong to each chapter, and when traversal abilities become available.
This guide draws on published reference material rather than personal playthrough testing. The vessel section contains optional-boss spoilers.

Reassign Sparks before committing to a grind
At a Keeper’s Shrine, the Reignite the Sparks option lets you reset and redistribute your Spark investments without a currency fee. The new-player reference describes this as a repeatable, free respec system. A skill allocation that worked in one encounter does not have to define the rest of your run.
Use that flexibility deliberately. If you are spending most of a fight dodging and rarely completing an elaborate attack sequence, reconsider how much you have invested in that sequence. Change one part of the build, try the encounter again, and judge whether the change addresses the problem you actually had.
Free Spark reassignment does not mean every equipment upgrade or crafting expenditure is reversible. Read the relevant menu before spending a different resource.
Learn the fight without fearing a lost currency pile
Death does not make you drop your accumulated experience and Will for retrieval. You still lose the current attempt and return to a checkpoint, but Wukong does not use the same dropped-currency recovery loop as Elden Ring.
Stamina management remains important. Watch the bar during attack strings and evasive movement, and give yourself room to recover rather than trying to attack continuously. If a boss keeps catching the end of a combo, shorten the combo before assuming that more levels are the only solution.
Four vessels, four different chapter milestones
The vessel reference identifies these major acquisition points. Use the table to locate the relevant quest or secret area before following its full route.
| Vessel | Where it belongs |
|---|---|
| Fireproof Mantle | Chapter 1: the three-bell route and Elder Jinchi in the secret area. |
| Wind Tamer | Chapter 2: the Kingdom of Sahali secret area and Fuban. |
| Weaver’s Needle | Chapter 4: Purple Cloud Mountain and the Duskveil. |
| Plantain Fan | The conclusion of Chapter 5. |
The first three entries involve optional content, while the Plantain Fan belongs to the main story’s Chapter 5 conclusion. Reaching a chapter alone is therefore not enough to obtain every vessel associated with it. If one is missing, start with the named area and boss rather than searching the whole chapter without a target.

The Somersault Cloud is a late-game regional tool
The Somersault Cloud reference places its acquisition in Chapter 6, after defeating the Supreme Inspector. It is used in the Chapter 6 region rather than providing universal flight through earlier maps.
That distinction matters when planning exploration. For an inaccessible-looking location in an earlier chapter, look for that area’s own paths and quest conditions. Waiting for the cloud will not replace the need to understand the local route.
A sensible preparation routine
- Identify what ended the last attempt: stamina exhaustion, a missed dodge, an unsafe attack commitment, or a resource decision.
- Check your current Spark allocation and equipped tools against that specific issue.
- Confirm the chapter of any optional item you intend to seek, so that a useful detour does not become an impossible one.
- Practice a more restrained opening and compare the result before changing several systems at once.
A useful adjustment should have an observable purpose. More survivability gives you room to learn; a shorter attack commitment leaves time to dodge; a different Spark allocation lets you support the actions you actually use. Begin with the problem you can identify, then choose the tool or change that addresses it.
